[ After all the stuff that's been going on lately, it's probably no surprise that Lightning has already been pretty on edge for quite a while now... particularly the last few days. Imagine her joy then, when halfway through making breakfast she opens her journal to find that yet another bout of insanity is going down.

Just... great.

As soon as she works out the basics of the disturbance, she quickly begins to clean up what she had spread out, addressing her journal mid-action. So far, she seems a bit irritated, but... otherwise, pretty unimpressed. ]

Alright... whatever's going on, everyone needs to just stay calm. We need to figure out who these people are, where they're coming from, and why.

[ Yes, she's using her Important Voice, even though there definitely hasn't been time to really think this through. There's a pause while she finishes gathering up her breakfast, but if nobody interrupts she then picks up her journal and makes an additional, somewhat reluctant 'command' as she moves to leave the eating area and go back towards her own rooms again. ]

... If they're not enemies, make sure none of them are left wandering around out in the snow.

[ Aaannnnd fourthwallstuffgo. As soon as she revisits her apartment, you just know she'll be tromping outside to see this whole mess for herself too. Go ahead and harass her at any point over journal or in person or both or whatever. ]

[He's sitting by the fountain. When he hears the approaching sound of rapid footfalls, he looks up to see her. Even with the new clothing, Lightning's method of carrying herself--along with her hairstyle--is unmistakable. His face brightens a little.]

[Immediately on his feet, he rushes forward to greet her.]

Thank goodness...

You're teachin' me magic! [well, not really. mostly they're focusing on "not hitting yourself in the face with the staff" right now.]

.... You said you're gonna, anyway. [what part of the conversation did you take that from, Osaka?]

IT'S NEVER VERY CLEAR.

[One minute they're in Japan and then somebody's saying 'Welcome to America!']

[ And guess who's there waiting at your apartment, arms crossed and leisurely leaning against a wall? ]

Well, look who finally made it back. Thought you'd never get here.

[ Lightning keeps her hand firmly on her gunblade. To be entirely honest, at this point she probably wouldn't mind actually fighting someone. ]

Never heard of it.

I don't think so.

[ Short and to the point. Unfortunately, this is starting to really irritate her. Also... ]

What makes you think I know magic?

It's the best method of fighting ever, because it uses me.

[ Okay. Issues. That was obvious from the very beginning, of course, but enough is enough. Lightning decides to... leave this to someone else. See ya, weirdo, 'cause she'll be walking away now. ]

[That's a decently successful pep-talk if he ever gave one. Which he has. A lot. Too many to count.

He pounds his fist against his chest confidently.] 'Course I would. What about you?

[ Lightning is definitely conflicted regarding Hope's presence, but the small smile she manages after a few moments of something completely opposite in emotion is genuine- considering it's been over a month now, she is glad to see him again.

But... hm. She glances him over, thinking there's something strange, but can't quite put her finger on it yet. Instead, she pulls the thing off her arm, holding it out to him. ]

How long have you been out here, Hope? Take this.

[ ... She brought a coat. And it's grey and awful, but come on. It's from right after she arrived here, when there hadn't seemed the time to shop around much before that first fruitless trip of hers out into the woods. It's very warm though, at least? ]

[ ~~... Santa Fang?~~ Lightning certainly recognizes those weird clothes and the woman they belong to the moment she sees them-- from all the way down the hall, actually, though this is not what she expected to suddenly be facing this morning. She clearly seems a little... stunned as she walks up. ]

Fang. Where did you...?

[ Nice tie there, dude. Lightning doesn't appear to like it though, because one moment she's standing there with a dark look on her face, and then suddenly she's whipped her weapon out, letting it unfold to its full length in a flash before arcing it towards his collar. Her aim is impeccable- if successful she totally intends to slice that stupid rainbow-colored thing right in half. ]

[ Sort of a double-edged question, there. She blinks, then puts a hand over her heart purposefully, eye contact steady. Whether or not Snow catches what that means or not... well. ]

Holding up.

[His face falters -- which pretty much signifies that he gets the jist of what that's supposed to mean. It's not something that's all that good, that's for sure.]

Good to hear. This place isn't all that much of a paradise. [Gathered from his very short stay.]

[ ... Yeah. She puts her hands back in the pockets of her coat and swallows. You can be as tough as you want, but it's hard not to be uncomfortable when you might as well have a bomb strapped to your chest- one you've yet to figure out any clue towards removing or at least putting the fuse out that doesn't involve an explosion. ]

... Hm. Seems like a pretty common theme wherever we are, though.

[ If only Sazh was here- he's pretty good at pointing out how hard it is to 'catch a break' and all. ]

[Snow takes a look to his own mark -- it's further along than Lightning's, but he doesn't know that.]

Definitely. [...] Hey, give me a hand finishing this snowman.

[ Well, pessimism won't get them anywhere, but-- wait, what? She frowns and eyes said snowman doubtfully. She's seen a few of those that people have built around the village lately, but as far as she's aware, they're usually... you know, the work of children. Not full-grown adults. ]

You've gotta be kidding me.

[See, that's just a snowman stereotype. For shame, Lightning.]

C'mon, it's not gonna finish itself.

[ Frooooown. ] Throw a snowball at her. Doit-doit-doit.

I'll pass.

[Snow starts to pack some snow together. That's a weird sentence.]

[ She just looks away, ignoring him. Definitely not her thing, and she's got other things on her mind anyway. Case in point: ]
