[Waking up to a mostly-empty house had been pretty damn depressing; even Zack would never lie about that. Between the empty room and Baldr whining pathetically at his door about being left alone (a longing for his owner that Zack shared, and even Daisy wasn't much help with comforting the poor pup), breakfast had been a morose affair. Thankfully he had most of the day off from the bar, so it's not like he had immediate plans or anything. He'd probably have cancelled them anyway.
It's not like he couldn't live without her. He could live without anyone, if pushed into that kind of corner. But...

There aren't really words for this kind of misery, so for a good portion of the morning, he forced the dogs to endure his hugs and rambling commentary, because he wasn't sure who else to talk to. He tossed a few private messages out to a select few who might miss her presence immediately, and opted to save a more public announcement for later. His heart wasn't in it yet.
He's genuinely glad for it later, once he hears her voice on the journal, though. It makes him wonder: is it her? Had her disappearance been a Malnosso prank? Or had she really been gone for such a brief amount of time?
Or maybe... she's not the same Light he'd shared his home with the night before.
