[ Today, Lightning's doing something fairly unusual in comparison to her normal - and recently even darker than normal - behavior. For once, she's outside and yet doesn't seem busy, merely watching as her puppy Baldr frolics about in the general area of community housing 4 in search of sticks to defeat, things to dig up, and nearby people to greet. In fact, the young woman and dog look pretty safe to come 'visit' with today- especially since there's also no gunblade in sight, and as she sits down to lean against the outside wall, she makes a pretty inane-seeming public message. ]

These seasons... usually last about three months each, right? How much warmer does it get?

I turned into a dragon. [Not very observant, Light, are you?]

[ It's a home that's at least been tamed back to normal since the last time Sigmund saw it. No more frantic looking for things that never existed in the first place, anyway.

Lightning frowns as she returns from shutting Baldr away, uncomfortable but hiding just how in generic stiffness. Her eyes go to Hope's arm - she's definitely been around the teen long enough by now to spot and recognize that gesture immediately - before drifting to Sigmund... but she remains silent. Her own answer to that is far too obvious. ]

It's nice to meet you Lightning.

[He continues to pet Baldr's head, blinking a bit at the question but answers] I'm 15 now. Why do you ask?

-- Baldr, come here.

[ Yeah no, she's not so hot on letting you touch her dog either. She steps forward so that the puppy quickly notices that she's not all that happy and freezes out of arms-reach. ]

... Not friend?

Half a year, by the calendar used here; mid-"November."

[ And that... that is just depressing. ]

[ It's like... all her dreams came true at once! Except not. Before she can answer though, the dog catches sight of Aerith and promptly runs right around his rather stiff-looking mistress. ]

AER! [ Baldr luuuuvs you, Aerith. And-- does his voice sound a little deeper now? Hurray puppy-puberty. ]

He'd... probably be alright. Should be about ready for a nap by now, anyway. [ Hopefully. Yes, she's taken the puppy into stores with her before. ~~It's not like she has to pay for anything he destroys, rite?~~ ]

Hm. The temperature scale used here doesn't really mean anything to me, so... it's pretty useless trying to figure it out anyway.

[ Your bizarre 'dog' is useless, Zack! Lightning chooses to just take care of the puppy's insistence herself, pulling the stick out of Baldr's grip and flinging it away-- so that it actually whistles as it flies through the air. Have fun fetching that, puppy dog.

And then... oh. She pauses, blinking, before straightening into a stand. ]

... I guess you never struck me as 'subtle' before.

[ A dragon. No shit, Sherlock. She steps just a little closer, tense, annoyed, and not hiding at all the fact that she's staring. Just don't get any funny ideas, lizardguy. ]

Why?

[Sigmund shunts his armful of books and parchment off onto whatever flat surface is near and convenient. Briefly, he meets Lightning's eyes and tilts his head towards them. 'Brought a little something for your research.' From a pocket somewhere in his many layers of clothes, he produces... actually, it looks like a small, opalescent crystal sphere, with irregular spikes coming from a small area at the top. The inside of it swirls sluggishly, like turbulent, silty water. He holds it up to the light to examine it.]

I'm going to examine your brand, to see if I can sense anything from it. [He pauses, and then continues in a minutely softer, less matter of fact voice.] Lunaglyphs react to lunar power. Mine might react to your brand, if they're similar. If nothing seems untoward... This is a glyph suppressant. It could slow it down.

It's the same for a lot of people. We've had to adapt and gauge for quite a few differences.

Oh, Baldr~ [She crouches down to greet him.] Hey, are you getting bigger? Going to be a big dog now? I remember when you were this little--[Which is the great part about puppies, how fast they grow, so Aerith might be exaggerating a bit how small he used to be as she gestures with her hands.]

Okay. Just like a little kid, huh? Dogs are so cute. [She loves Daisy but Daisy isn't really dog, even if the wolf started in the canine family.]

BIG!

[ Another great things about dogs: as long as your voice is happy, you could be totally cussing him out and he wouldn't care. Except for the part where Baldr is a talking dog, would probably pick something up, and then Lightning would have to kill you for corrupting her puppy. There's that. ]

I guess. [ Implying Lightning knows very much about little kids, heh. She crosses her arms as she follows after Baldr, tilting her head slightly as she watches him sit and eat up the attention with tail a-wagging. ] ... I don't think he was ever that small, Aerith.

Just curious.

[ A touch dark there, though fortunately, "because you act weird" is a bit too harsh even for Lightning right now. It's not like she doesn't know a nineteen year old who acts any better, anyway. ]

[Even if she had told him that he acts weird, he would've been confused. He doesn't know how other 15 year olds act. He stares at her for a moment, thinking. He doesn't want to pry, so he bites his lip before asking]

How old are you? Y-You don't have to answer if you don't want to.

[Yeah, and she's laughing at that because it's so cute. ...You can't kill her, Light :( ~~she's already dead~~]

Hmm? Well, he was at some point. [Scratching behind his eaaar] Ready to go on a walk with us, Baldr?

[ ~~She can try.~~ Imagining Baldr as younger/smaller than when she got him is kind of weird for Lightning. It brings up kind of unwanted questions about where the dog came from in the first place, really- does the puppy have parents or any siblings out there somewhere? ]

WAAAALK!

[ And there he goes. Lightning is just sort of silent again though, thoughtful, even as Baldr somehow becomes even more excited at the idea of going for a walk. Never mind he's been burning off energy out here with Lightning for a while now, right? ]

[WAAAALK--Aerith does not immediately notice the thoughtful silence, as her own thoughts are full of...something else.]

What kind of colors do you like? I know I usually wear pink, but I think I might try something different this time, maybe.

Oh? Then we arrived at around the same time!

[It probably doesn't really mean anything, but he seems intrigued by the coincidence.]

The village isn't that large, so we've probably seen each other in passing before, I'd imagine.

[Zack shrugs absently, lifting a hand to shield his eyes from the sun as he watches the dog scamper after the stick. With his free hand he gives Daisy another nudge-- why can't you fetch sticks? It'd be so fun. Still not reaction. Sigh. At least he's housetrained.]

Believe it or not, it happens now and then! [Mostly when dealing with girls who can punch him and actually make it hurt.]

Yeah, I've heard a few different things, but the numbers don't add up. [ She does what amounts to a shrug. Not important in the end. ] I guess I'll find out how hot this summer thing gets if I'm still here then.

I suppose so--the peaks from what I recall were late July to August. It gets a little warmer than it has been now, but nothing too intolerable, unless there's no breeze.

... Twenty-one.

[ The answer is completely neutral, and Lightning doesn't even look at Seto as she delivers it. Who knows her exact age here, though, given the differences in the calendar... and the fact that even when she'd still been 'home,' she hadn't been completely sure how long it had been since her birthday. ]

Probably. [ Not the best at conversation, this woman. Her eyes are down as she idly pulls a seed-pod of some sort out of Baldr's fur. ] I'm pretty sure there were quite a few people in that particular 'cycle.'

[ And like he said, it's not like the village is all that big. Lightning just... doesn't really pay much attention to the others there, unless there's something particularly notable about them. ]

Really? I thought you were nineteen to be honest.

[Not that he's really good at telling age differences apart. He's only been with one person his whole life so it's hard for him to tell how old people are when they're young. He shifts to a more comfortable position by sitting criss cross on the ground, still petting the puppy]
