[ Today, Lightning's doing something fairly unusual in comparison to her normal - and recently even darker than normal - behavior. For once, she's outside and yet doesn't seem busy, merely watching as her puppy Baldr frolics about in the general area of community housing 4 in search of sticks to defeat, things to dig up, and nearby people to greet. In fact, the young woman and dog look pretty safe to come 'visit' with today- especially since there's also no gunblade in sight, and as she sits down to lean against the outside wall, she makes a pretty inane-seeming public message. ]

These seasons... usually last about three months each, right? How much warmer does it get?

At this rate? Hot enough that we'll need a pool to stay cool.

The lakes work, too.

[but now that she's thinking about it, swimsuits could be a nice pick-me-up...]

I... This evening? [He sounds both surprised and distracted. She caught him working, actually. The image in the journal is partially obscured by steam from the various brews he has going.] Your home, if you want this kept private.

Hm. [ She... didn't even think about a pool. ] Well... I don't know about the lakes.

[But Lightning you live near a beach! D:]

Too far? Maybe a jump in the river then.

[ Frodo is trying to at least get a layout of this village. He's been keeping to himself, save some quiet conversations, and he's trying to find out how far the village extends. He wants to be outside of the village, soon, but his body is still too sore to build or attempt to set up a camp for himself near the forest. Not in it, for it was told that it was protected.

Today, though, the hobbit is going through the town, feeling a little better than he had been, and seeing his way around. He sees the woman and her dog, and he pauses to watch, just a moment. He doesn't speak, though. Not that he'd know what to say. ]

[Jack is skulking through the woods, licking his chops after successfully bringing down a deer, and making his way back towards the mountains. He's not near the village, but given his size, he makes an obvious impression even as far away as he is. Besides, big scaly things are bound to make dogs nervous.]

[Sup, Lightning. It's your friendly neighbourhood SOLDIER, walking his- ......... well, okay, no one can really call Daisy a dog in the normal sense of the word. But he is indeed with Daisy, and the two are approaching at a friendly pace, with Zack lifting a hand to greet her.]

Hey, Light. Enjoying the sun?

[ Lightning blinks slowly, pausing before she answers back- did she interrupt him...? ]

Right. We'll be there... no need to warn ahead of time.

[It's the puppy that catches Yukito's attention first, and he pauses to watch his antics with a small smile. After a moment he realizes said puppy is actually with someone, and Yukito glances up with a cheerful smile for Lightning in turn.]

Is that your dog?

[ Lightning herself isn't very exciting at the moment: just sitting on the ground, paging through her journal with eyes down. A soldier's instincts warn her to when she's being watched, though- especially when he's doing so openly... and especially when her puppy's around. She glances up when the young dog catches sight of Frodo, stiffening with head and tail up-- ]

Hi!

[ -- And then with tail wagging. Ever seen a talking dog, Frodo? ]

[ No, he has not.

He steps back, quickly, wide eyed. Nothing should startle him anymore... nothing so harmless, at least, but back Frodo steps, putting some separation between himself and the pup.

He makes an awkward face, hesitating, feeling he should just walk away from the thing. Replying to it- well, he might have really been mad to do that, he supposes. ]

[ Being in Luceti definitely acclimates you to weird stuff going on, but the sound of something big off in the forest... well, it's possible she's already noticed it happening before, but it's different when her dog, generally fairly brave about things, comes running over with head ducked and ears held back to try and somehow sit between her and the wall she's up against. ]

... Baldr? What's wrong? [ And she stands up, frowning and looking off in the direction of said disturbance. ] What do you think that is?

Mmmm...!

This is preliminary, mind. Don't expect results yet.

[ When Baldr sees Daisy? Immediately he rushes to gather up the latest awesome stick he's found - arguably too big for him, still covered in half-green leaves on one end - and awkwardly begins running over with it, tail wagging furiously.

Lightning just closes her journal, folding hands on top of it. ] Hey. [ And she raises an eyebrow at her puppy as he makes it over, narrowly avoiding the loss of his prize by tripping over it. ] Something like that.

[ Lightning's already sort of watching Yukito out of the corner of her eye when she notices him standing there, but isn't going to begrudge anyone enjoying Baldr's presence as long as they don't do anything. Life kind of sucks here, but at least someone isn't down, even if he's just a dog. ]

... Yeah. [ She looks back at the puppy as he barks at something unseen, jumping back and forth in front of it. Cute, right? Too bad Lightning's kind of bad at small talk. ]

[ And that's why she didn't think of a pool or lake! The ocean is much better! Besides, the beaches on lakes and rivers... they're kind of dirty, aren't they? ]

Well. [ A long pause- almost long enough to assume she's decided not to continue after all. ] I was thinking... about going to see the ocean, instead.

Yeah, I know.

Very well.

[And some hours later he'll gather up a couple books about lunaglyphs (somewhat useful), his own handwritten notes (much more useful), and the best of his attempts at a suppressant (...he's working on it). Expect him, as usual, after sunset - or more accurately, after moonrise. Force of habit?]

[Damn trees... Jack keeps getting wedged between them. Urgh... okay, he just pushes one over. Yeah, stupid tree, take that. Stealthy? Jack? Not a chance.]

Baldr! [ As soon as she sees Frodo's reaction, Lightning's on her feet and going to the dog's side- having him be a nuisance to anyone is definitely not her intention! Especially since, while he's only half a year old, he's still pretty darn big for a dog, especially for someone who, from his height, doesn't look very old to her at first.

Fortunately, the pup's pretty well-trained for his age and pauses at her call. Lightning stops close, looking down at him... and then at Frodo. ]

He's a beautiful dog. What's his name?

[That's okay. Yukito will still cheerful at her even if she won't respond. Though... his attention catches for a moment on her wings, and a slight crease appears between his brows. Why do they seem familiar somehow?]

[ Lightning's quickly beginning to catch on to said habits- it's not like she has much room to judge though, considering some of her own. If nothing else, at least it makes him consistent.

And both she and Hope will be where they'd said, although Lightning at least is actually waiting outside of the apartment. If she was still inside she'd just end up pacing, after all, and she already learned a long time ago that that tends to help very little when it comes to the stress levels of those around her. Nobody needs that. ]

We're getting into summer. It will probably get quite a bit hotter, but I'm not sure.

I've never lived through a summer here.

[ Lightning closes her journal, not yet realizing the purpose behind the look at her wings. They're fairly unusual, so people are bound to notice... but although she's considered doing something about that more than once, she does have reasons for not outright concealing them, and is certain that for several other reasons, trying to dye them somehow likely wouldn't end well. ]

It's Baldr. He's... just a puppy.

[ As if that wasn't obvious by his behavior, although he is pretty sizable already- it's clear he's going to be tall when he's finally full-grown. ]

[Yukito laughs quietly, sounding delighted by the puppy's antics.]

I'm sure he'll be even nicer when he's fully grown, too. I've always kind of wanted a dog, but I just never had the time to take care of one.
