[ Today, Lightning's doing something fairly unusual in comparison to her normal - and recently even darker than normal - behavior. For once, she's outside and yet doesn't seem busy, merely watching as her puppy Baldr frolics about in the general area of community housing 4 in search of sticks to defeat, things to dig up, and nearby people to greet. In fact, the young woman and dog look pretty safe to come 'visit' with today- especially since there's also no gunblade in sight, and as she sits down to lean against the outside wall, she makes a pretty inane-seeming public message. ]

These seasons... usually last about three months each, right? How much warmer does it get?

[ Lightning's already sort of watching Yukito out of the corner of her eye when she notices him standing there, but isn't going to begrudge anyone enjoying Baldr's presence as long as they don't do anything. Life kind of sucks here, but at least someone isn't down, even if he's just a dog. ]

... Yeah. [ She looks back at the puppy as he barks at something unseen, jumping back and forth in front of it. Cute, right? Too bad Lightning's kind of bad at small talk. ]

He's a beautiful dog. What's his name?

[That's okay. Yukito will still cheerful at her even if she won't respond. Though... his attention catches for a moment on her wings, and a slight crease appears between his brows. Why do they seem familiar somehow?]

[ Lightning closes her journal, not yet realizing the purpose behind the look at her wings. They're fairly unusual, so people are bound to notice... but although she's considered doing something about that more than once, she does have reasons for not outright concealing them, and is certain that for several other reasons, trying to dye them somehow likely wouldn't end well. ]

It's Baldr. He's... just a puppy.

[ As if that wasn't obvious by his behavior, although he is pretty sizable already- it's clear he's going to be tall when he's finally full-grown. ]

[Yukito laughs quietly, sounding delighted by the puppy's antics.]

I'm sure he'll be even nicer when he's fully grown, too. I've always kind of wanted a dog, but I just never had the time to take care of one.

Hairier, too. [ Wry statement ahoy, though it is something she's kind of concerned about- if it gets much hotter, how is she going to take her long-haired black dog outside without potentially troubling him? ]

I... got him for 'Christmas,' so I guess I didn't really get much of a choice in the matter.

[ Though say what you will, she is pretty fond of him despite not really showing it in the conventional way. She never did just give him away or something, even when she'd had the chance. ]

Oh, he was a present? Hm, I liked my present, but I think I would've liked a puppy more.

[He grins and lifts one shoulder in a shrug, then after a moment the smile turns slightly apologetic.]

I beg your pardon, but... have we met before?

[ It's then that Baldr finally notices Lightning talking to someone and begins trotting over excitedly; she just watches quietly, not particularly invested in the on-going conversation... until that question comes along. She glances up to study the young man a bit more carefully, but... no, she's pretty sure they've never talked or anything. ]

... I don't think so.

[ But at the same time, her eyes narrow by a bit, a soft frown beginning to appear on her face. ]

Never mind, then— I'm sorry if I bothered you.

[The approaching puppy seems to capture his attention at that point, and his smile brightens again as he watches Baldr. There's something about the dog that amuses him, but he can't put his finger on it until Yue almost idly observes that it looks rather like the dog Touya was turned into in the experiment a while ago.]

Would it be okay to pet him?

[ And Lightning doesn't quite look away yet, even when Baldr comes to stand between them- Lightning's instincts are pretty good, and she can't quite shake the feeling of something strange going on, even when it's dismissed. ]

PET? [ The puppy doesn't seem to have any problems, though. Lightning blinks, coming back to herself suddenly ]

-- Oh. I guess.

[Yukito's grin brightens, and he crouches down to be more on the dog's level.]

Maybe it was just some kind of strange deja vu moment. I'm Yukito, by the way. Tsukishiro Yukito.

Hm. [ Her gaze falls finally, lashes obscuring her eyes with unusual ease. Meanwhile, Baldr steps forward, tongue lolling out in a puppyish grin. The weirdness has gone right over his head, obviously. ]

Lightning.

[ Just Lightning. She's not really in the habit of tacking her last name on the end, even if she did still go by it in the military. ]

Nice to meet you, Lightning-san.

[No, there's something about that name that's familiar as well. Not just the unsual wings, but something else, something that Yukito suspects comes from Yue given the odd change in the sense of the guardian's presence in the back of his mind. For a second his eyes unfocus, as though he's trying to remember something, but then he returns his attention to the puppy and holds out a hand.]

How long have you been here? Since before Christmas, I'm guessing, but....

Half a year, by the calendar used here; mid-"November."

[ And that... that is just depressing. ]

Oh? Then we arrived at around the same time!

[It probably doesn't really mean anything, but he seems intrigued by the coincidence.]

The village isn't that large, so we've probably seen each other in passing before, I'd imagine.

Probably. [ Not the best at conversation, this woman. Her eyes are down as she idly pulls a seed-pod of some sort out of Baldr's fur. ] I'm pretty sure there were quite a few people in that particular 'cycle.'

[ And like he said, it's not like the village is all that big. Lightning just... doesn't really pay much attention to the others there, unless there's something particularly notable about them. ]
