[ Today, Lightning's doing something fairly unusual in comparison to her normal - and recently even darker than normal - behavior. For once, she's outside and yet doesn't seem busy, merely watching as her puppy Baldr frolics about in the general area of community housing 4 in search of sticks to defeat, things to dig up, and nearby people to greet. In fact, the young woman and dog look pretty safe to come 'visit' with today- especially since there's also no gunblade in sight, and as she sits down to lean against the outside wall, she makes a pretty inane-seeming public message. ]

These seasons... usually last about three months each, right? How much warmer does it get?

[ It's a reasonable day for a walk -- or in Raine's case, taking care of some errands during her 'day off' from teaching. Normally she'd take the path through the forest near her house to the square, but today she's coming down the other path--the slightly longer route as more stores can be visited that way. She's not really running these errands for herself, after all.

She hasn't really seen Lightning much recently--hardly at all since their talk, and it's certainly not something that's ever far from her mind. But there has been little she's been able to do on that front.

In any case, the little dog catches her attention, and it's not difficult to figure out who it belongs to after a quick look.]

... ah. Good afternoon.

[ Lightning is distracted, but quickly glances up at the greeting... and then frowns, just slightly. She's not really friends with Raine- the only reason she's really ever had to talk to her is about Brand stuff, which is not-so-good for moods. ]

Raine. Doing alright? [ She can do pleasantries, though. Sort of. ]

Well enough, I suppose.

... How have things been with you and Hope? [The situation last month was emotionally upheaving for a lot of people. That was more than enough cause for concern.]

... Hanging in there.

[ And... a sigh as she closes her journal yet again. She's not even going to mention the last experiment herself, though it's a good thing she was already 'safe' when it ended, that's for sure. ]

... That's good. [ She wishes there was more she could say on the matter. She still doesn't know either of them well, and with the way Luceti has been recently, that hasn't really been an easy thing to do either. She notes that movement with the journal. ] Ah, I hope I hadn't interrupted you.

[ In the last little bit, she's actually got another lead, but she's... not really sure how much is safe to tell Raine, considering how secretive its origin seems set on being. She presses her lips together a moment, privately debating with herself. ]

... Not really. Just ... asking about the climate here.

I see... did you get sufficient answers? [She wonders if something else might be on the woman's mind, but there's no need to press if she wasn't comfortable.]

Hm. The temperature scale used here doesn't really mean anything to me, so... it's pretty useless trying to figure it out anyway.

It's the same for a lot of people. We've had to adapt and gauge for quite a few differences.

Yeah, I've heard a few different things, but the numbers don't add up. [ She does what amounts to a shrug. Not important in the end. ] I guess I'll find out how hot this summer thing gets if I'm still here then.

I suppose so--the peaks from what I recall were late July to August. It gets a little warmer than it has been now, but nothing too intolerable, unless there's no breeze.

[ July to... okay, it takes her a bit longer than it would for those who grew up with them to parse those names, but not by too much. She's a fast learner and it has been half a year. ]

I see...

They have calendars in the library or welcome center, if that will help any.

... Yeah, I have one.
