[ Today, Lightning's doing something fairly unusual in comparison to her normal - and recently even darker than normal - behavior. For once, she's outside and yet doesn't seem busy, merely watching as her puppy Baldr frolics about in the general area of community housing 4 in search of sticks to defeat, things to dig up, and nearby people to greet. In fact, the young woman and dog look pretty safe to come 'visit' with today- especially since there's also no gunblade in sight, and as she sits down to lean against the outside wall, she makes a pretty inane-seeming public message. ]

These seasons... usually last about three months each, right? How much warmer does it get?

Hooray! Give me just one minute.

[She needs time for that whole walking out the door instead of climbing out the window thing.]

[ -- OH, THAT'S NOT WHAT SHE M-- oh crap, what has she agreed to...? Her repeated sigh is pretty heart-felt as she stands, stares sullenly at the abandoned window, then walks a few steps to capture the attention of Baldr snuffling through some grass a short distance away. ]

[You have just been Aerith-jacked. :D

She's coming outside now, and pauses to regard Baldr herself.]

Guess he might get a little bored in a clothing store. [And with puppies, boredom means trouble. ~~She knows from Zack.~~]

[ It's like... all her dreams came true at once! Except not. Before she can answer though, the dog catches sight of Aerith and promptly runs right around his rather stiff-looking mistress. ]

AER! [ Baldr luuuuvs you, Aerith. And-- does his voice sound a little deeper now? Hurray puppy-puberty. ]

He'd... probably be alright. Should be about ready for a nap by now, anyway. [ Hopefully. Yes, she's taken the puppy into stores with her before. ~~It's not like she has to pay for anything he destroys, rite?~~ ]

Oh, Baldr~ [She crouches down to greet him.] Hey, are you getting bigger? Going to be a big dog now? I remember when you were this little--[Which is the great part about puppies, how fast they grow, so Aerith might be exaggerating a bit how small he used to be as she gestures with her hands.]

Okay. Just like a little kid, huh? Dogs are so cute. [She loves Daisy but Daisy isn't really dog, even if the wolf started in the canine family.]

BIG!

[ Another great things about dogs: as long as your voice is happy, you could be totally cussing him out and he wouldn't care. Except for the part where Baldr is a talking dog, would probably pick something up, and then Lightning would have to kill you for corrupting her puppy. There's that. ]

I guess. [ Implying Lightning knows very much about little kids, heh. She crosses her arms as she follows after Baldr, tilting her head slightly as she watches him sit and eat up the attention with tail a-wagging. ] ... I don't think he was ever that small, Aerith.

[Yeah, and she's laughing at that because it's so cute. ...You can't kill her, Light :( ~~she's already dead~~]

Hmm? Well, he was at some point. [Scratching behind his eaaar] Ready to go on a walk with us, Baldr?

[ ~~She can try.~~ Imagining Baldr as younger/smaller than when she got him is kind of weird for Lightning. It brings up kind of unwanted questions about where the dog came from in the first place, really- does the puppy have parents or any siblings out there somewhere? ]

WAAAALK!

[ And there he goes. Lightning is just sort of silent again though, thoughtful, even as Baldr somehow becomes even more excited at the idea of going for a walk. Never mind he's been burning off energy out here with Lightning for a while now, right? ]

[WAAAALK--Aerith does not immediately notice the thoughtful silence, as her own thoughts are full of...something else.]

What kind of colors do you like? I know I usually wear pink, but I think I might try something different this time, maybe.

... The colors I like or the colors I can actually wear?

[ Okay, so they're about the same, but it's the first thing that comes to mind. She pats her thigh absently to get Baldr to walk a little closer - something that's about... semi-successful - before looking at Aerith with a neutral expression. ]

Who wears colors they don't like? Seems kind of silly.

That's not what I mean. [ Ugh, just. This is Serah's territory, not Lightning's. ] It's... even if I wanted to wear orange, it just wouldn't look right. Or purple, for that matter.

Mmm, I wonder. Pink and purple could make quite a statement! But it'd have to be the right purple.

[So Aerith really did inherit her father's love of experimentation. It just comes out in fashion instead of science! ~~Because how else do you end up wearing pink and red~~]

But if I had to guess what you're looking for... hmm. Tan, or black?

Pink and purple and red? No.

[ Clipping the wings of that little idea right now - sorry, Aerith. This is Luceti. Gotta take into account hair color and the color of particular extra appendages here! ]

... I haven't really thought about it. [ Obviously, considering this was thrown at her just a few minutes ago! Chances are she's probably going to be more into the problem of style than color, when it comes down to it... that and whatever gets her out of it the quickest. :| ]

--Oh, that's right. Wings are going to show! So something that goes with green...

[She laughs at Lightning's response, and her own new dilemma.] There's always white.

[ Soft, half-scoffing laugh at that. ]

I think you have to be careful with white, if you're planning on actually getting in the water.

[ Oh yes, Lightning did live and work at a beach-based town. She has seen the awkwardness caused by light-colored clothing when their wearer wasn't thinking ahead about fabric-types and the like. ]

Even with swimsuits, really? I've only been to the beach once, so... heh. Lucky me, we're going together.

[ Oh, Aerith... Lightning gives a brief sigh. ]

Probably not anything you'll have to worry about.

[ ... But yes, she'll be checking anything light-colored that gets picked up, just in case; at least in this case, consider the flower girl's dignity protected! The fact that she's only ever been once doesn't surprise Lightning, though. That's plenty true of many Cocoon citizens as well. ]

You do know how to swim, right?

[ Another soft scoff and a bit of an eye roll. ]

... Right. Just don't drown on me, Aerith.

[ THAT'S THE LAST THING SHE NEEDS. =/ At least Lightning's actually... you know, trained in how to save attempted water-breathers, though. So. ]

Oh--! I'm not that reckless. Start in the shallow water, work my way up! No lifeguards needed here.

How did you learn?

Hm. Well, you and Baldr can figure it out together, I guess.

[ Speaking of which, Lightning now turns slightly to relocate said dog. It's not like it takes long to get into town proper, so- leash time! She also... has to think on that question for a few seconds... ]

... I don't know. I guess I must have first learned when I was pretty young. [ A slight pause, brows furrowed. Talking about her past pre-age-15 isn't usually something she dwells on much, still. ] I've been able to as long as I can remember.

[Grouping her with the dog, Lightning? 8(]

That is a long time. So you must be very comfortable in the water. ...Something wrong? [Tense eyebrows?]

[ Yes. Problem, Aerith? 8) ]

No, just thinking back. [ -- How often does she have to say that kind of thing? Probably a lot. ] In any case... they used to make everyone who joined the Security Regiment learn. At least in Bodhum.

I wonder if the soldiers working for Shinra had to learn. [Something to ask Zack but they're at the clothing store now, so Aerith opens the door and walks in, pushing it to stay open for Lightning and Baldr.]
