... There's that, I guess.

[ Treading a really slippery road, though. Main-game protagonist here, so-- yeah. Her own luck with avoiding 'trouble' is abysmal. But if she could go back to just being that sergeant obsessed with her sister's love life and receiving most of her excitement quota by fighting monsters... would she? After how much she's changed because of the people she's met? ]

You think you'd do it all over again, if you had the chance?

[ JUST CURIOUS, though the instant after she asks the question she sighs quickly, quite self-aware that that's kind of a heavy thing to ask at the moment. ]

Do... what, join SOLDIER? After everything that happened?

[He wants to say yes right away, but it's too heavy a question to not give some consideration. Yes, a lot of bad things happen- things that could've gone better, things that maybe, if he'd known the outcome, he could've changed. Angeal's death, Sephiroth's madness, the falling out between the three First Class SOLDIERs that had led up to everything. Nibelheim... above all else, Nibelheim. Four years of watching the slow decay of a good friend's mind, of suffering at the hands of an insane scientist.

But then... if that hadn't happened, where would the world be? Hadn't Cloud, using the super strength and abilities he'd gained there, somehow saved the world or something? Maybe things would've changed for him, but in the long run, would it really have been better?]

...I think so. I mean... all those experiences are what made me who I am now, right? So if you took all of that away, who would I be? It's scary to think about it.

... There was a guy here, a while back - from Cocoon. [ Another quick, kind of sullen sigh. ] We were friends back home... more like family, really. But... he was from a few days earlier than me and-- even that really made a difference.

It's scary, isn't it? How much can happen in just a few days, I mean.

[He's got plenty of experience with that, for sure. How long did it take for Angeal to go missing? To betray Shinra? To become a monster and get himself killed? It doesn't take long for the world to change.]

[ Okay, Lightning's still busy with her own thoughts here, but that catches her dubious-sounding attention. ]

They had "ghosts" playing chess in the lobby, and the receptionist would drop from the ceiling just to try to scare people! [ Well okay maybe she yelped the first time but, pft. It wasn't a scream! So it was still just "try." ] The second time we came to the Gold Saucer we stayed for the night, and the rooms have creepy things in them too. Cloud's room had...that's right, it was a guillotine. What a funny place...

[ ...that's a weirdly happy smile for someone thinking about a guillotine. It might help know she's actually thinking of why she was in Cloud's room to notice it.

She has this thing with amusement parks and dates... ]

[ ... Lightning doesn't even answer that one- just looks at Aerith with an "uh, really?" expression. 8| There's some creepy stuff meant to be entertainment in Cocoon, sure, but... she can't imagine it seeming like a very good idea for a place where people try to sleep. ]

[ Oh Aerith reads that expression--and she gets a mischievous one of her own at her face, leaning toward Light. ] What, is something the matter?

Well, we'll see about that.

[ She has absolutely no idea how tall he'll end up being in the end, but as weird as it would be for him to eventually surpass her... she wouldn't be offended or anything. She does hope for his sake that he at least gets closer.

She leans away from his shove before he gets too much of a chance to really put much strength into it, her smile slowly growing as she attempts to ruffle his hair in retaliation. At least the teasing's put her in a better mood. ]

[He'd better start eating his Wheaties now, then, if he hopes to gain seven inches by adulthood. But either way? If there's a "you must be this tall to ride" on any of the festivities, he's passing. And that's enough for him for now.

The hair-ruffle earns Lightning a little laugh in turn.]

I have. But I'm guessing you haven't.

[Pressing his hands to the ground, Hope launches himself to a standing position once more, hopping right to his feet. He's already reaching for one of the woman's wrists.

Yes, this amusement park has put him in a good mood. Enough for him to ease up and act like a kid again... at least for a little while.]

We're gonna change that!

[ Lightning gives a laughing scoff. Or a scoffing laugh. One of those. Her expression and tone grow incredulous, though amused, as she looks up at him. ]

Oh, really.

[ ....... She does start to get up, though. Slowly. It's just that, while he's not the strongest, he still could probably drag her if he wanted, and that just... wouldn't be as funny as it sounds in theory. ]

Uh-huh.

[He'll stand there and wait for Lightning to rise to her feet, patient by appearances... or most of them, save for the toes of his shoes scuffling against the dirt.

Then Hope will heading off in the direction of the rides, a bit of a quicker pace than normal - though he'll be casting a glance over his shoulder to make sure Lightning follows and doesn't just... sit there and leave him to run off like an idiot. That would be SO MEAN.]

Have you been on any before? We should go on the rollercoaster first.

Oh geez, right- [Zack lets himself fall backwards till he hits the floor, then snaps, letting the field vanish. ...Oof. Suddenly feeling heavier again.] ...That thing is kind of intense!

[ A good thing, yes. Lightning tsks, but then slightly smiles again anyway at him. Silly as it is, it makes her feel good to make him happy at least a little... which is no doubt the major contributor in her increased tolerance here. 'Cuz she's pretty sure she could get used to it right now.

She waits until he's up again before she says anything else, tone drying a bit. ]

... Did you want the other thing too, or is that enough for now?

A staff with freaky symbols, this weird necklace, and a room full of weird labelled bottles, boxes, and containers. There was even something called 'Jack Sparrow's Soul Sauce' in there. No idea what that was about, so I figure it must be magic stuff. It fits."

For a moment Lightning's too busy wondering just where that came from, digesting her own words instead of processing the other woman's too. She blinks then once they've all sunk in, however, once again showing a slight, wry sort of smile. ]

[The book is settled back into the shelf after she takes a moment to skim through its pages -- then, she closes the distance between herself and Lightning, smiling as she offers her hand in a proper introduction.]

[ She blinks but then reacts readily enough. For some reason shaking hands with her gloves on strikes her as inappropriate, so she pulls the one she's wearing off her right hand smoothly before reaching it out. ]

Ariadelle. [ A beat. Yes, this would usually be where she'd go and offer an intro herself, buuut... ] ...I'm afraid I don't remember my own name.

She shifts, eyes narrowed and frown studiously pulling down the corners of her lips as her free hand finds her hip. ]
